Compared with traditional machining methods, CNC machining has stricter requirements on tools, especially in terms of rigidity and durability. The tool and tool holder should be correctly selected according to the processing capacity of the machine tool, the performance of the workpiece material, the processing procedure, the cutting amount and other related factors. The general principle of tool selection is: high precision, high strength, good rigidity, high durability, stable size, and easy installation and adjustment. Ruizheng Precision Tools Co., Ltd. reminds buyers to choose a shorter tool holder to improve the rigidity of the tool under the premise of meeting the processing requirements.

Cemented carbide is still the preferred tool material at present. There are five main types of metal cutting tool materials currently used: high-speed steel, cemented carbide, ceramics, cubic boron nitride, and polycrystalline diamond.
1. According to the requirements of CNC machining for tools, the general principle of selecting tool materials is to choose carbide tools as much as possible. As long as the processing conditions allow the use of carbide tools, high-speed steel tools are not used.
2. Ceramic tools are not only used for processing various cast iron and different steel materials, but also for processing non-ferrous metals and non-metallic materials. With ceramic inserts, use a negative rake angle no matter what, and blunt the edge if necessary to prevent chipping. Ceramic tools are not effective in the following situations; machining of short parts; interrupted cutting and heavy cutting with large impact; machining of simple materials such as beryllium, magnesium, aluminum and titanium and their alloys (easy to generate affinity, resulting in cutting edges peeling and chipping).
3. Both diamond and cubic boron nitride are superhard tool materials. They can be used to process workpiece materials of any hardness, with high cutting performance, high machining accuracy and small surface roughness. Generally available cutting fluid.
Polycrystalline diamond inserts are generally used for processing non-ferrous metals and non-metallic materials.
CBN inserts are generally suitable for machining chilled cast iron, alloy structural steel, tool steel, high-speed steel, bearing steel with a hardness greater than 450HBS, as well as nickel-based alloys, cobalt-based alloys and high-cobalt powder metallurgy parts with a hardness of not less than 350HBS.
4. From the structural application of the tool, the insert-type machine-clamped indexable insert should be used as much as possible in CNC machining to reduce the replacement and presetting time after tool wear.
5. Use coated tools to improve wear resistance and durability.
