    The composite silicon nitride ceramics use the richest silicon in nature as the main raw material. After grinding, the screened silicon powder is nitrided to make silicon nitride (Si3N4) powder, and then graphite is added together with other additives. The mold is then filled with nitrogen in a hot pressing sintering furnace, and sintered under the conditions of pressure: 200-250 kg/cm and temperature: 1810-1820 °C. Its main performance characteristics are: high hardness, good wear resistance, hardness can reach 93 ~ 94HRA; heat resistance, good oxidation resistance, can reach 1200 ~ 1300 ℃. Silicon nitride reacts less chemically with carbon and metal elements and has a low friction factor. Practice has proved that it is not sticky for cutting steel, copper and aluminum, and it is not easy to produce built-up edge, thereby improving the processing quality of parts.

    The biggest feature of silicon nitride ceramics is that it can be turned at high speed. The effect of turning gray cast iron, ductile iron, malleable iron and other materials is more obvious. The cutting speed can be increased to 500-600m/min. As long as the machine conditions allow, the cutting speed can also be increased.

    Silicon nitride ceramic tools are suitable for fine turning, semi-finishing, fine milling or semi-finishing milling, and can be used for fine turning aluminum alloy, high manganese steel and other difficult-to-machine materials to achieve the purpose of turning grinding instead of grinding.

    Today, with the continuous development of tool materials, surface-coated cemented carbide has also been widely used. The hardness and wear resistance of cemented carbide are good, but the toughness is poor. By coating one or more layers of TiN, TiCN, TiAlN and Al3O2 with good wear resistance on the cemented carbide tool, the thickness of the coating It is 2~18μm, forming a surface-coated cemented carbide, so that it has both a surface with high hardness and high wear resistance, and a strong and tough matrix, which can improve tool life and processing efficiency.
